Space Area

Blockchain for Space

One of the items blockchain can play an important role in space relates with cybersecurity. To a greater depth this means the use of blockchain for securing, among others, military satellites in light of its potential in this area, including for tracking attempted data breaches. Moreover, given the IoT applications of blockchain, this technology will be used in facilitating the tracking, command and control of satellites (especially new ones to be launched where this technology could be incorporated in addition, blockchain is already showing its potential of Big Data which would have individual importance in activities, including in satellite remote imagery.

High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS)

It refers to aircrafts usually unmanned airships or airplanes positioned 20 km in the stratosphere, in order to compose a telecommunications network or perform remotely sensing. Aratos research on solutions based on HAPS could be the chosen solution for many international enterprises and organizations as they offer capabilities with large coverage area, broadband connection, lower cost and more respect to the environment.

Intelligent methods that take advantage of unused data from satellites

Analysis of storages and flow of information without limit of time and satellites technical specs in order to provide information and make the satellite data control system more agile.

Geospatial Intelligence

It refers to the use of analysis of geospatial information to assess geographically referenced activities on Earth. GEOINT consists of
  • Imagery- a likeness of any natural or manmade feature, as well as its location
  • Imagery Intelligence (IMINT)- Information derived through interpreting imagery
  • Geospatial information- Information that identifies a natural or constructed feature on Earth by its geographic location and other characteristics.

IT/ Artificial Intelligence Area

Business Intelligence

It leverages software, services technologies and technical infrastructure in general, to transform data into actionable intelligence. This kind of intelligence informs an organization’s strategic and tactical business decisions. Emerging trends include :
  • Self service BI
  • Accessibility
  • Data quality
  • Automation and Augmented Analytics
In Aratos Group we research modern techniques in order to create new business opportunities. We have experience in reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining and process mining and have the know how for knowledge transfer.

Internet of Things (IoT)

The future of IoT applications greatly depend on the development of advanced platform architecture for smart objects, embedded intelligence and smart networks. Smart objects such as modern phones use sensors and actuators to interact with the real world while connectivity and the cloud provides the means to communicate and store data. Key concepts in IoT evolution:
  • Identification
  • Addressability
  • Actuation
  • Embedded information processing
  • User interfaces
We have created the first IoT infrastructure in the city of Athens, combining sensor with satellite data.

Sensitive Machine to Machine communication (S-M2M)

Machine to Machine refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same type. The sensitivity is a totally new designation for M2M network and it refers to the information that we want to propagate. Sensitive M2M communication has to deal with the information, which can be characterized by its volume, security, speed, autonomy, priority etc. This information is the main object of two or more machine/systems that communicate.

Cyber Physical Systems for Instant Aerial self maintenance

Research for Cyber-Physical Systems for instant aerial self-maintenance and production services for RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems). The development includes the capability of a continuous operation of a large number of RPAS and their maintenance with minimal human intervention. It could be mainly based on Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technologies.
